


While we will not be replacing every file type and codec that was previously supported, we will be supporting those which are most common. The goal of this article is to outline what does and doesn’t work in each version of Pro Tools so that you can make sure the functionality you need is available before deciding to update your OS or purchase a new machine. In the meantime, we will be providing as much support as we can on Catalina (and beyond), and we will be releasing functionality as it becomes available. We are looking to replace this functionality as soon as possible.

Pro Tools is a 64-bit application, but it has been relying on a few external 32-bit components for import, export, and playback of certain file types, such as QuickTime MOV files. Pro Tools File Type Support on macOS Catalina and AboveĪpple has completed its transition to 64-bit technology as of macOS Catalina.
